Leading e-commerce operator Amazon Japan G.K. on Wednesday launched Kindle Unlimited, an all-you-can-read digital book service.
According to the company, subscribers can access more than 120,000 Japanese books including novels by Jun Ikeido, Ira Ishida and other high-profile authors, as well as manga and magazines, for a monthly fee of ¥980. Subscribers also have access to more than 1.2 million foreign books.
The online bookstore giant’s launch of this kind of service is expected to significantly affect the publishing industry as a whole.
