(Press Rlease) Encinitas, Calif., January 24, 2011—Michel Kripalani, founder and president of Oceanhouse Media, Inc., today announced the company has crossed the one million mark in paid app downloads on Apple's App Store. Kripalani will be a panelist at this week's Digital Book World Conference and Expo in New York on Jan. 26 where he'll discuss the topic "New Kind of Publisher for a New Kind of Product: Emerging Models for Digital Children's Book Publishing."

Seven of the company's omBooks(TM) (Oceanhouse Media digital books) have reached the number one spot on the App Store in the Top Paid Book category. They include: Dr. Seuss's ABC; The Lorax; One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish; The Cat in the Hat; Green Eggs and Ham; The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule; and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Additionally, the company has held the number one spot in Kids Games with Grinchmas! and in Finance with Money, and the Law of Attraction.

Oceanhouse Media is a major player in the digital book market for iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android(TM) devices. In the two years since their founding, the company has released more than 150 apps ranging in price from $0.99 to $15.99.
"It seems hard to believe that just two and a half years ago, the general public had no real concept of an app. Today apps are everywhere," said Kripalani. "When Oceanhouse Media was founded in early 2009, there were about 15,000 apps on the App Store. Today, that number is over 300,000. 2010 was a milestone year for Oceanhouse Media and we foresee 2011 being just as active, with more than 100 omBooks being released as well as dozens of other apps across the Books, Education, Photography, Health & Fitness, and Finance categories."

Oceanhouse Media has licensing agreements with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company, Zondervan (a division of HarperCollins), Hay House, Chronicle Books, Character Arts, Holiday Hill Farms and Mercer Mayer (author of the Little Critter (R) series of books). In many cases, the company works directly with authors to bring their beloved books to the digital market.

"As an author, I love nothing more than to see young kids engaged in reading and relating to the story being told," said Mayer, award-winning author and illustrator of the Little Critter (R) books. "The digital versions of my books maintain the fun nature of the characters, enhanced with rich narration and background music. The interactive features of omBooks do wonders to enhance the educational value of my books."

Ocean House Media have done some fine work on the iphone apps and 160 apps on itunes is awasome. Some of the small players can also match the quality of the big boys also. I am a new author and in frustration with the difficulty of breaking into the book industry I launched my own digital books on itunes. I have employed freelancers to keep the cost down but have still managed to match the content and graphics quality from the big publishing houses.

The Great Snail Race is my first digital book on itunes and has already made it into whats hot!

Please have a look as if your discouraged by the cost and effort of producing a iphone app you might be interested to know in this case the programming only cost $1000 USD. If you do your research itunes can be a level playing field! My second book is currently in the review process on the app store and the third book is just about to be submitted. ( Local app developers in the Melbourne Australia region quoted us $20,000 before they even new the specification of our app. ) I plane to have 10 books on itunes by the end of 2011.
