Press Release: BookExpo America (BEA) to Debut New Digital Platform Tools at Annual Event
NORWALK, Conn. — March 17, 2016 — BookExpo America (BEA), North America’s premiere event for the publishing industry, is amplifying its networking capabilities for attendees by unveiling two new digital platforms that promise to connect and enhance the event experience as never before. The new platforms, available for the first time for all attendees at this year’s show, will provide onsite networking capablities and free access to the world’s premium global rights trading platform – PubMatch.
BEA will debut the BEA Network at the show to the approximately 10,000 industry professionals attending the event, giving them a chance create more connections than ever before. Located within BEA’s online planning tool, “My Show”, the BEA Network will allow attendees to create profiles similar to basic social networks and then search and message anyone else signed into the platform. Not only will the platform allow people to communicate and connect prior to the show, new this year, it will provide personalized exhibitor and product recommendations along with recommendations on whom people should meet at the show based on mutual interests.
The introduction of PubMatch was made possible through a partnership between BEA and the online service for those involved in the buying, selling and marketing of copyrights and intellectual property (IP). Through the partnership, PubMatch will be available to BEA participants on an initial trial basis that then offers a preferential rate upon signup. Designed to make the marketing of titles, aggregation of data and rights trading simple and easy to navigate, this development will enable the conversations opened at book fairs to continue within a straightforward commercial context.
"As good as BEA is in making on-the-ground personal connections, we have so much more opportunity by accessing those digital and social platforms that connect us all every day,” said Brien McDonald, Director of Publisher Relations for BEA. “The debut of the BEA Network and offering of PubMatch takes the core benefits of BEA – networking – and makes it even stronger.”
