If you want to see the future of Amazon in education, don't look to Seattle. Look to Sao Paulo.

For months, I've wondered what Amazon's strategy for the Kindle in education might be. Amazon's presence in the K-12 school market has been notable largely by its absence. No grand, sweeping announcements. No blow-out presentations at education technology conferences. No dramatic Bezos schoolyard laughs.

If you live in Brazil or near Sao Paulo you are in for a treat October 25th. For the first time ever a full one day conference is kicking off and will focus on EPUB 3 and HTML5 production for digital publishers. It has the full support of the IDPF and will help the local market better understand best practices and talk with each other on the future of publishing.

The information we were expecting. While everyone is looking for when will Apple iBookstore and Amazon arrives here, Google Books and Kobo stand aside. What does not stop them to continue negotiating their arrival in Brazil. In the event Rakuten Super Expo that took place yesterday in São Paulo, April 25, the company’s vice president Todd Humphrey said that Kobo will arrive in Brazil in the second half.
