Graphic-novel publishers are offering an increasing number of stories featuring female protagonists. At the same time, the number of female creators in the field has grown. Among them: Roz Chast, whose graphic-novel memoir about caring for her elderly parents, "Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant?" was a finalist for the 2014 National Book Award in nonfiction.
