Cuyahoga County Public Library Executive Director Sari Feldman will become president of the American Library Association, the world's oldest library association.

Feldman will be the leading public voice for libraries in the nation during her term, which begins with a year as president-elect, then a year as president and finally a year as immediate past president of the organization.

"Throughout my campaign I challenged our association to engage, innovate and inspire - and I sincerely appreciate the support for that call to action," she said.

OverDrive has launched a pilot program that will allow millions of library patrons to check out the same eBook all at once during a two-week period. The Big Library Read project will let members of more than 7,500 libraries globally simultaneously access The Four Corners of the Sky by Michael Malone.

The American Library Association (ALA) today released a new report examining critical issues underlying equitable access to digital content through our nation’s libraries. In the report, titled “E-content: The Digital Dialogue,”authors explore an unprecedented and splintered landscape in which several major publishers refuse to sell ebooks to libraries; proprietary platforms fragment our cultural record; and reader privacy is endangered.
