The American Library Association's annual conference kicks off tomorrow in Anaheim, CA, and runs through June 26 (info at: http://www.alaannual.org/). Attendees are expected to number 25,000, including librarians (but of course!), educators, authors, publishers, and more.
The opening session on Friday June 22 features Rebecca MacKinnon, journalist, author ("Consent of the Networked"), and Internet policy specialist, speaking about how to govern technology usage to protect the rights and liberties of users around the world. Other conference highlights include appearances by literary luminaries such as John Irving, Chris Colfer (of Glee fame), Sherman Alexie, and Sapphire.
