American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Launches eBook Platform, Powered by iPublishCentral Software
(Press Release) NEW YORK, NY—(Marketwire - July 20, 2011)— The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), a 35,000-member organization for pharmacy professionals who practice in hospitals and health systems, today announced the launch of a new online platform for making available its popular educational titles in eBook format.
The ASHP eBooks site was developed in partnership with Impelsys, a global leader in providing electronic content delivery solutions, with the use of the iPublishCentral software that is used by publishers and professional associations worldwide.
ASHP eBooks are available now. Books purchased from ASHP's eBook Store can be accessed from any desktop, laptop or tablet computer with Adobe Flash software. In the coming months, the organization will also offer eBooks that are compatible with the iPad, Kindle and other electronic reading devices.
"Clinicians, pharmacy managers, faculty and students all voiced the need for us to provide digital access to our highly regarded pharmacy publications, and ASHP responded to those voices by partnering with the digital publishing experts at Impelsys," said Carol Wolfe, vice president, publications and drug information systems of ASHP. "Many of our most popular titles for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are now available as eBooks, with many more to come throughout 2011."
According to Wolfe, the ASHP eBooks platform — powered by the award-winning iPublishCentral software— offers users a number of powerful tools to help them navigate content and use that information to advance their practices. For example, keyword searches across eBook titles provide results of titles that are available to all members. Bookmarks, notes and comments can be managed across all titles in a personal library.
"ASHP's eBook collection allows pharmacy professionals and students to have fingertip access to their most important titles, for both online and offline reading," said Sameer Shariff, chief executive officer of Impelsys. "We are proud to partner with them in the development of their digital publishing strategy and the creation of this new eBooks platform."
