The 100th article, out today, discusses how a sociological theory about social problems and deviant behavior created a false depiction of reality and an inaccurate picture of British society since the 1970s. Authors Bill Thompson and Cecil Greek wrote that the theory led to an unrealistic depiction of British youth groups called “Mods” and “Rockers” specifically. The authors found that this misrepresentation led to moral panic in the popular media which was dismissed and denounced by British parliament.
