I spy … new gaming apps from Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc. The global children's publishing, education and media company has announced the launch of I Spy Arcade, a series of four new gaming apps inspired by the company's "I Spy" best-selling books and games.

According to Scholastic's announcement, "The I Spy Arcade game apps feature … I Spy objects in an arcade-style play pattern with increasingly challenging brain-teasers" (65 progressively difficult levels and bonus levels).

The apps, which cost $2.99 each, will be available for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the iTunes App Store, as well as for Android smartphones and tablets on the Android Market (marking Scholastic's first gaming app for Android) and other carrier stores. I Spy Arcade: Match Attack (below) was the first app to hit the market in late December; the remaining three I Spy Arcade apps—Spy Squares, Fine Line and Critter Craze—will be launched monthly through March.

Scholastic Media developed the apps in-house, "ensuring fidelity to the tone, look and feel of beloved Scholastic brands … while guaranteeing that parents can trust the apps to be both educational and entertaining," the company press release reported.
