Betsy Mitchell Joins Open Road as Strategic Advisor
Mitchell Has Edited Many Iconic and Beloved Sci-Fi and Fantasy Authors of this Generation
(New York, NY January 17th 2012) Open Road Integrated Media (www.openroadmedia.com), a digital publisher and multimedia content company, announced today that Betsy Mitchell will serve as Strategic Advisor for Science Fiction and Fantasy. Mitchell, who has more than 30 years of publishing experience, will spearhead Open Road's acquisition and publishing of backlist science fiction and fantasy titles for its Author Brand Program.

In just over a year and a half, Open Road has published and marketed a wide range of beloved, bestselling and iconic authors under its Author Brands Program with literary, mystery, romance, children’s and non-fiction titles, including most recently books from Erica Jong, Alice Walker and Michael Chabon.
Mitchell is currently the owner of Betsy Mitchell Editorial Services, which provides editorial, graphic novel management, and consulting services for authors, literary agents and trade publishers. Her career in science fiction and fantasy included positions at Bantam Spectra, Baen Books, and Warner Aspect before joining Random House/Del Rey, where she served as Editor in Chief for ten years.
She has worked with many of the great science fiction and fantasy writers of the last thirty years, including several that appeared on NPR’s list of the top 100 SF titles of all time. She has edited award-winning and bestselling authors including, among many others: William Gibson, Terry Brooks, Octavia Butler, Naomi Novik, Timothy Zahn, Dan Simmons, Peter F. Hamilton, and Marion Zimmer Bradley. She also edited bestselling graphic novels by Dean Koontz, Diana Gabaldon and Kim Harrison.
