Book Business and Publishing Executive Announce New Editorial Leadership
Book Business and Publishing Executive magazines, business-to-business publications of North American Publishing Co., have announced the appointment of Lynn Rosen to Content Director. In this new role, Rosen will direct the content strategy of these leading brands across a number of platforms including print publications, e-newsletters, industry events, webinars, online products, and more. She will also direct the conference program for the popular Publishing Business Conference & Expo, which attracts more than 2,000 publishing executives each year. Rosen will oversee both brands’ editorial departments.
“Lynn brings with her a unique combination of skills and expertise in publishing,” said Matt Steinmetz, Publisher of Book Business and Publishing Executive. “She’s had a tremendously successful career across many aspects of the industry while demonstrating a knack for identifying and executing new business initiatives. We’re excited by the expertise she’ll be able to lend both brands—and their audiences—and we’re poised for strong growth across all of our various products.”
In related news, Brian Howard, Editor-in-Chief of Book Business and Contributing Editor of Publishing Executive, has been promoted to Group Digital Editor. In this new role, Howard will contribute to the brands’ overall digital strategy including publishing news and commentary online and via the industry-leading e-newsletter Publishing Business Today. He will also be responsible for analyzing and tracking all online metrics and managing a growing network of bloggers.
Rosen was previously Director of Graduate Publishing Programs at Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and is the founder and director of Open Book, a continuing education program of book classes and author events. She has more than 25 years of experience in publishing as an editor, literary agent, educator, and author. Rosen served in an editorial capacity at publishing houses including Ballantine Books and Running Press, and ran the Leap First Literary Agency for eight years. She also worked as a Community Relations Manager for Barnes & Noble.
Rosen is the author of Elements of the Table: A Simple Guide for Hosts and Guests (Clarkson Potter), a guide to setting the table, dining etiquette and the history of fine dining. She is also the co-author of The Baby Owner's Games and Activities Book and The Baby Owner's Maintenance Log (both from Quirk Books), as well as several gift books and journals. Lynn graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an Honors degree in English, and holds a Masters in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
Howard was previously the Editor-in-Chief of the Philadelphia City Paper, Philadelphia's leading alternative weekly newspaper, which he led to the prestigious Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Newspaper of the Year award. In more than 12 years with the paper, Howard was charged with reinvigorating the paper's online presence, creating e-newsletters and blogs, and launching and developing the glossy, annual city guide magazine City Paper Primer. He has written for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine's The Philly Post, Flying Kite, Magnet, GRID and other publications.
“Brian has demonstrated a keen understanding of how to serve our audiences online, and this new role will leverage his many talents in the online arena,” said Matt Steinmetz. “I’m confident our readers will agree.”
