Broadthink Launches BroadLit®, Inc.
Los Angeles, CA, May 2012—Broadthink, a boutique branding and new business development media company, is bringing the world of vintage and new romance content to the underserved target market of women through its newest company BroadLit®. By combining the popular genre of romance with the emerging world of new media technology BroadLit is putting a new slant on romance and delivering it to today’s women. With the launch of its online romance hub TruLOVEstories.com, BroadLit is featuring ebooks, casual digital games, customized avatars, licensed merchandise, and other features to fulfill every romance seekers desire for more.
“BroadLit, a new transmedia company just launched, is a wonderfully imaginative reformulation of romance -- both classic and contemporary,” says Phyllis Grann, former CEO and Publisher of the Putnam Publishing Group, who has worked closely over many years with BroadLit’s Chief Publishing Officer and publishing expert Nancy Cushing-Jones. “Their first original contemporary romance series, Second Acts: Sleeping with Dogs and Other Lovers, is a fun read and I have every expectation that BroadLit will have a very successful business bringing all types of romance stories to one of the largest markets in publishing today--women readers of romance,” adds Ms. Grann.
BroadLit’s website “hub,” TruLOVEstories.com, is specifically designed for women looking for a little romance seasoned with humor. The site offers stories, games, customized avatars, other merchandise offerings, contests, webisodes, videos and other opportunities for building a strong community.
“TruLOVEstories.com is the first step in building the BroadLit transmedia venture. We are reaching out to the very underserved market of women who are constantly looking for books, games and other products specifically designed with them in mind,” says CEO Cynthia Cleveland.
According to Chief Marketing Officer Barbara Weller, “In addition, BroadLit will create new content from our extensive library for internet radio programs and a dedicated YouTube channel. We also plan to invite women to share their love stories and build a community for romantics.”
BroadLit is unique in that it brings to the market a combination of classic and new romance material through many multi-media channels. BroadLit has purchased the assets of True Romance and True Love Magazines and now owns as a result nearly 100 years of women’s stories about both true love and love gone bad. It is bringing to life this extensive archive of vintage and new love stories and is now releasing the first two short story collections – When Love Goes Bad and Falling In Love . . . Again. In addition, BroadLit owns all the beautiful covers from these magazines that date back to the 1920s and which will be licensed to produce a variety of merchandise from beauty products to greeting cards.
In terms of new romance, BroadLit is now launching its first original romance novel in its Second Acts romance series—Sleeping with Dogs and Other Lovers, with many more to follow. All BroadLit books are distributed by Perseus Books’ Constellation Services.
BroadLit is not limited to stories. Soon it will be launching its first mobile game Angry GRRRLfriends™ designed specifically to appeal to the huge market of female casual gamers worldwide. “Who hasn’t had a bad boyfriend at least once in their lives? This game gives angry girlfriends a chance for revenge all in the name of fun,” says Ms. Cleveland.
