ForeWord Reviews And Actor Johnny Depp Celebrate Milestones
ForeWord Reviews, a literary review journal celebrating its fifteenth year reviewing independently published books, is helping a growing number of consumers discover great works by small presses. The latest issue, featuring actor Johnny Depp on the cover, will reach subscribers and select bookstores by June 1. Along with nearly one-hundred reviews of acclaimed independent books, feature articles focus on the best new debut fiction, cookbooks, children's titles, and parenting guides released for the summer season.
“Anyone who hasn't seen a copy of ForeWord recently will be pleasantly surprised,” says ForeWord Reviews Publisher Victoria Sutherland. “With readers in mind, we've implemented some design changes leading to a delicious spread of cookbooks, a better view of the authors behind newest voices in fiction, and spotlights of compelling new Civil War and Greek and Roman history books..
“But I'm particularly excited that ForeWord co-founders Mardi Jo Link and Anne Stanton were available to contribute. Their memories of the early days make this issue that much more personal with reminders about our commitment to exposing the best books to the marketplace.”
And, so what’s the deal with Depp? Aimee Jodoin, ForeWord’s deputy editor, reviewed Johnny Depp: A Retrospective, by Steven Daly. The book features “behind-the-scenes details and thoughtful commentary” on all of the actor’s movies, as his 50th birthday approaches, Aimee writes.
“Whether you are male or female, lots of people who saw previews of the issue say they have a secret crush on Johnny Depp. It's hard not to after reading about his retrospective from Insight Editions,” says Sutherland.
Also featured is an interview with PEN/Faulkner Award Winner Benjamin Alire Sáenz, and his publisher at Cinco Puntos Press, and an interview with the director of teen nonfiction publisher Zest Books, and much more.
Librarians, booksellers, and a growing number of consumers count on the
ForeWord Reviews and its website to make informed decisions. In addition, the magazine has maintained a longstanding presence at book fairs and subsidiary rights events in Frankfurt, Beijing, Moscow, London, Bologna, Book Expo America, and the American Library Association’s annual meeting.
