Friday Blog Pick: Book Shelf Fetishists Rejoice

I know that all we hear about in the mainstream press anymore is how print books are taking a beating and that in the future we'll all be reading digital texts projected through virtual reality goggles right out of some William Gibson fever dream.
And while that may or may not come to pass (and you may or may not be geeked on the idea), one of the most common lamentations of this vision of the future is the disappearance of the book shelf as a cultural touchpoint (and as a way to judge friends and acquaintances when we visit their homes).
It is in this spirit that we here at Book Business were completely agog upon discovering bookshelfporn.com, a simple Tumblr photoblog (with the attendant Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter presences) devoted to bookshelves. The brainchild of Anthony Dever, it's just the sort of site a bibliophile or an organizational fetishist could get lost in for an hour or a day.
We know we're not the first to this party, but it's a fun party all the same. And a great way spend a few minutes of your summer Friday. Just tell your boss you're doing "consumer habits research."
