Press Release: Globe Pequot Press Signs Digital Partnerships with Major eBook Platforms: Oyster Books, Zola Books & Slicebooks
Guilford, CT, March 4, 2014 - Globe Pequot Press (GPP), a mid-sized publisher and distributor with roots in major category publishing, is proud to announce recently signed digital partnerships with Oyster Books, Zola Books and Slicebooks, three leading eBook platforms in the digital publishing industry.
"At Globe Pequot we recognize the fundamental importance of not only great content, but also of maximizing the audience-driven marketing verticals that are necessary in the new publishing paradigm," said Managing Director Alexander Merrill, "We're thrilled to partner with innovative and digital companies like Oyster Books, Zola Books and Slicebooks, who are so aptly suited to distribute our content to new readers."
Globe Pequot couldn't be signing these deals at a better time, as they tout having five titles on nine bestsellers lists over the past four months. These digital partnerships allow GPP to continue its mission of expanding into the digital marketplace and offering readers content at the swipe of a finger.
Oyster, the eBook subscription service that provides its readers unlimited access to more than 100,000 titles for $9.95/month will bring select titles from Globe Pequot Press to its popular subscription platform. The number of titles in Oyster's library is quickly expanding as they add more publishers to their repertoire.
Zola Books, who recently acquired Bookish.com, a platform that GPP has experience with, uses a strategy that combines all three of the eBook world's major market functions - retailing, curation and social-networking - in a one-stop shopping destination for book lovers on the web. Zola will be licensing all of Globe Pequot's eBooks to deliver a broad range of titles to their subscribers.
Slicebooks provides custom publishing services and a unique iTunes-style retail platform, where Globe Pequot can easily slice, remix, and repurpose existing content and instantly publish it to Slicebooks store. All eBooks in the store are available as a whole or by the slice, and for the first time consumers can mix and match content to create their own custom eBook.
