IBPA Introduces the Benjamin Franklin Digital Awards
The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) is proud to announce the inaugural 2013 Benjamin Franklin Digital Awards for electronic book publishing and excellence in innovation. The Benjamin Franklin Digital Awards (BFDA) will honor achievement in electronic book publishing by individuals and organizations of all sizes, including publishers, developers, designers, manufacturers, institutions, and technology leaders.
As the definition of “book” expands, the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) wishes to honor the industry’s innovators with a marquee awards program. The awards are administered by the IBPA, with the help of more than 50 book publishing professionals and sponsors representing all segments of the book industry. The BFDA will serve as a natural companion and outgrowth of IBPA’s Benjamin Franklin Awards for print, now in its third decade of recognizing publishing excellence.
Award entries will be accepted from June 2012 until December 31, 2012 and award winners will be announced at IBPA Publishing University in April, 2013. Award categories will include: Best Book as App, Best Enhanced E-Book, Most Creative Use of the Mobipockets/Kindle and/or ePub 2.0 (or lower) Formats, Best Adaptation of a Complex Print Design, Best E-Format “Original,” Best New Product, and Best New Technology. An Honorary Digital Award for Innovation will also go to a person, product, or organization whose contribution to the field of e-book publishing has been fundamental to the advancement and acceptance of the e-book form.
Founded in 1983, the Independent Book Publishers Association is the largest not-for-profit trade organization for publishers in the United States, serving 3000 book publishers of all sizes.
