The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), has acquired the full publication list of SciTech Publishing, which adds more than 70 renowned titles to its current list of 300 books and e-books. SciTech Publishing specializes in practical references and textbooks in the broad area of electrical engineering/electromagnetics with a focus on topics such as radar/electronic warfare, microwave and RF engineering, and antennas.
The IET, one of the world’s largest engineering societies, will retain the SciTech Publishing name as an imprint and has retained SciTech’s founder, Dudley Kay as Senior Commissioning Editor to manage and grow the SciTech imprint. SciTech Publishing’s titles will remain available through the current North American network and an expanded network in ROW.
“We are very pleased to have made this acquisition,” said Daniel Smith, IET’s Head of Academic Publishing. “It places IET firmly at the forefront in publishing for the radar, microwaves and electromagnetic communities. It provides IET with a larger footprint in the North American market while IET provides the stronger global presence. We believe this presents us with significant opportunities in terms of market presence and reach.”
Dudley Kay, SciTech Publishing’s Senior Commissioning Editor said: “The IET has the global reach we’ve needed to give justice to our full line of books on the world stage, and we bring them an established sales network and vibrant community of engineers here in North America. This is a truly exciting opportunity for us, and for the engineers, academics, and students we serve.”
The IET’s existing electrical engineering books and journals include Radar, Sonar & Navigation and Electromagnetic Waves & Electrical Measurement. This enhanced knowledge base will also support the IET’s international conference on radar systems, Radar 2012 (Glasgow, UK).
