"For those of us who are fortunate enough to have had a terrific education and a lot of support in learning at home, we realize what that can do for a child and for a family", states Julianne Moore. "It really goes a long way just to have someone take that time with a child and read to them and tell them a story, it activates their imagination, it kindles their interest in literacy and learning."

About Children of Bellevue's Reach Out and Read:
Children of Bellevue's Reach Out and Read encourages reading aloud as a regular, joyful home activity that can improve language development, parent child interactions and school success. For the past 15 years, pediatricians, parent educators, and volunteer readers have worked together to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud and to give books to children at pediatric checkups from 6 months through 5 years of age, with a special focus on children growing up in poverty.
Children of Bellevue is a non-profit organization founded in 1949 to initiate, fund, and develop special programs and to act as an advocate for children and their families within Bellevue Hospital Center.
About Reach Out and Read National Center:
Children of Bellevue's Reach Out and Read is part of National Reach Out and Read (ROR), an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
