New Kobo Firmware Update Allows for Customization and Accessibility

As Kobo continues to add features and functionality to their Kobo eReader Touch Edition, the company has released a new 1.9.5 firmware update that allows substantial customization with new font, margin and layout options. Below are highlights of the updates:

Personalize Your Reading Experience by Adding New Fonts: The new firmware allows users to add their own fonts easily and quickly for total personalization. Simply create a new Font directory on the Touch Edition using your laptop, netbook or desktop computer, then drag custom fonts into the Font folder. Nook and Kindle don’t offer the ability to add fonts and personalize the reading experience in this manner.

Get Five Additional New Fonts Automatically: For those who don’t want to add fonts by sideloading, update 1.9.5 gives/offers five additional fonts – Amasis, Delima, Felbridge, Gil Sans and Rockwell – to the devices initial two fonts (Avenir and Georgia) – now there is a total of seven font options, each with 25 sizes, not including the add your own fonts/personalization option.

Line Spacing, Margin and Justification Control: The Kobo eReader Touch Edition’s redesigned font menu now includes the ability to change the font face, font size, line spacing, margins, justification (off, left, full) and the ability to turn off Kobo styling so users can truly customize how they read.

Kobo eReader Touch Edition owners can easily update their eReader by downloading the latest Kobo Desktop Software application from kobosetup.com and plugging their eReader in to update; the firmware will be automatically downloaded and installed.
