Press Release: Lonely Planet’s Amazing World Atlas named in AASL 2015 Best Apps for Teaching & Learning
(June 29, 2015) - Lonely Planet, the world's leading travel media company, is proud to announce the Amazing World Atlas app has been named by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) as one of the Best Apps for Teaching & Learning in the Social Sciences category this year.
The winners were announced at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in San Francisco on June 27. An invaluable resource for school librarians, teachers and parents, the annual list - now in its third year - recognizes 25 of the most innovative, user-friendly and cost-effective educational apps of 2015.
Amazing World Atlas from Lonely Planet Kids is an engaging game in which kids become explorers of the incredible cities, countries and continents on our planet. By interacting with maps, challenging their friends and family, and discovering fun facts about sights, wildlife, food and culture, children can grow and test their geography knowledge in a fun, captivating environment.
The app was inspired by Amazing World Atlas: Bringing the World to Life (Lonely Planet Kids / Hardcover / $20.00), a 160-page book with 50 illustrated maps, over 300 photographs, engaging infographics, and a mind-blowing mix of history, culture and fascinating facts, which earned an IPPY award this year.
To celebrate, the Amazing World Atlas app has a discounted price of only $0.99 USD. From June 29 through July 13, the app can be downloaded from iTunes and Google Play.
