About the American Book Center
Started in Amsterdam in 1972, the American Book Center (ABC) has two locations, one in Amsterdam and one in The Hague. Early adopters of both magnetic theft protection strips and online bookselling (1994), the organizational structure is decentralized and relies upon dedicated staff members who all train within the organization and play multiple roles. ABC is an independent family-run business that provides specialty English-language advice, books, magazines, and events to a community of loyal customers, most of whom are Dutch.
