Open Road Integrated Media CEO and Co-founder Jane Friedman announced that director/producer Jim Kohlberg has optioned Mary Glickman's debut novel "Home in the Morning," published by Open Road in November 2010, for feature-film adaptation. This marks the publisher's first E-riginal—books produced exclusively in electronic format (with a print-on-demand component)—to be adapted for film. Open Road President and Co-founder Jeffrey Sharp will executive produce for Open Road with Luke Parker Bowles and Peter Riva.
"Open Road offers a unique opportunity for filmmakers such as Jim to partner with an author and his or her work early in the publishing process. We are thrilled to collaborate with him in introducing this new content model," says Sharp. "Jane and I are very excited to watch Jim translate Mary's beautifully written story to film."
"As a filmmaker, I look forward to tackling Mary's complex vision of love, family and tradition in the world of 1960s civil rights America. I have a unique affinity for this world, its language and characters and am confident that I'll find the perfect cast to play Katherine Marie and Jackson and Stella Sassaport," says Kohlberg.
