(Press Release) New York, NY, November 16, 2010—Open Road Integrated Media, a digital content company that publishes and markets ebooks by creating connections between authors and their audiences, announced today that it is continuing its Pat Conroy ebook collection by digitally publishing his 1970 literary debut, The Boo, in North America. Open Road already publishes Conroy's The Prince of Tides, The Lords of Discipline, The Great Santini, and The Water Is Wide as ebooks.
As part of Open Road's efforts to market its authors and titles on all screens, president and award-winning filmmaker Jeffrey Sharp will collaborate with Conroy to develop The Boo into a feature film or television production.
Sharp said: "The Boo launched the career of one of our country's greatest writers and we are proud to add it to our Pat Conroy collection on the Open Road."
The Open Road ebook edition, on sale November 16, is available wherever ebooks are sold and includes a new cover and illustrated biography complete with never-before-seen photos and details about Conroy's life. The enriched editions on the iBooks and Kindle AV platforms include videos about the ebook as well as Conroy's life.
The Open Road production and marketing teams spent several days at Conroy's home on Fripp Island, South Carolina, combing through decades of scrapbooks and archival footage and photos to produce videos featuring Conroy and his ebooks. The videos are distributed through Open Road's online platform as well as syndicated to online content partners.
The Boo is a powerful story of a man's undoing at the hands of his greatest admirer. Set against the richly drawn military school backdrop that Conroy would return to in his bestseller The Lords of Discipline, The Boo is an unforgettable story of duty, loyalty, and standing up for what is right in the face of overwhelming circumstances.
