Phoebe Yeh to Join Random House Children's Books as Publisher for Crown Books for Young Readers
New York, NY (June 6, 2013)—Veteran children’s book editor Phoebe Yeh will join Random House Children’s Books as Vice President, Publisher, Crown Books for Young Readers, effective June 21, it was announced today by Barbara Marcus, the company’s President and Publisher.
Yeh will leave her current post at HarperCollins Children’s Books, where she has worked for 17 years, most recently as Editorial Director, bringing her strategic and innovative approach to publishing and developing author franchises to Crown. Reporting to Marcus, Yeh will acquire and publish new books with a focus on middle-grade fiction and narrative nonfiction.
“I have known Phoebe for many years and admire her as a highly creative and versatile editor with an excellent track record for discovering and nurturing new voices,” said Marcus. “I am so pleased to welcome her to Random House, where her expertise in nonfiction and commercial middle-grade books will perfectly complement and further strengthen our list.”

Prior to her arrival at HarperCollins in 1996, Phoebe was a senior editor at Scholastic Press, where she edited the Magic School Bus books and was an editor of the SeeSaw Book Club. During her years at Harper, Phoebe was responsible for the estate programs of Maurice Sendak, Shel Silverstein, and C. S. Lewis, the Series of Unfortunate Events publishing program, and the Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science series. Phoebe acquired and edited the New York Times bestselling Big Nate series by Lincoln Peirce, as well as the new-adult Crash series by Nicole Williams. She has also worked with Walter Dean Myers, current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature; Seymour Simon; Betsy and Ted Lewin; Eric Kahn Gale, author of The Bully Book; and most recently Soman Chainani, author of the instant New York Times bestseller The School for Good and Evil.
