STM and Tech Expert Sam Molyneux Shares His Insights on Personalized Content
With less than two weeks until the Publishing Business Conference & Expo, we're eager to share with you what's new at this year's conference. In addition to the traditional Book and Magazine sessions, we're excited to introduce the new STM and Scholarly track, in which speakers will cover topics including: agile content management, UX, personalization, multi-channel delivery systems, data analytics, and more.
We spoke with one such speaker, Sam Molyneux who will share his tech knowledge at "Personalization: Give Users What They Really Want," an STM session that delves into issues surrounding the anticipation of user needs. Molyneux is the co-founder of Toronto-based startup Sciencescape, which is working to fix an out-of-date STM publishing system by better organizing the rapid output of new research.
We asked: STM publishers have embraced personalization of content for readers. How can trade publishers implement personalization in their books?
Molyneux said: Publishers should focus on investing in innovation around smart content delivery platforms that leverage advances in information technologies such as machine learning and recommendation engines, and take advantage of user activity to derive implicit interest profiles.
