Speaker Q&A: Talking Tech with STM Expert Kevin Boyack
There are only three weeks left until the Publishing Business Conference & Expo is under way! In anticipation of the over 100 speakers participating in our three-day conference (beginning Monday September 23rd), we'd love to introduce you to some of them in our ongoing speaker Q&A series.
Today we spoke with Kevin Boyack, president of SciTech Strategies Inc. Mr. Boyack works on creating accurate mapping of the structure and dynamics of science and technology and developing advanced data metrics. You can see Boyack speak on Tuesday September 23rd at "Sorting Out Data Analytics: What Does it Mean for Publishers?" where he will discuss tracking customer activity, data visualization, and how data informs editorial development.
We asked him: How can science mapping change the STM industry?
He said: Science mapping can help STM publishers to see the larger context in which their works (journals, books, etc.) are published. Maps, along with related metrics, can give STM publishers a greater awareness of topic-based competitive environments, along with information about key researchers and institutions in those areas.
To see Mr. Boyack speak along with experts in Book, Magazine, STM, and Tech tracks, you can register for the Publishing Business Conference & Expo here.
