Random House, Inc. Relaunches TasteBook; Publisher Redesigns Online Food Community and Lowers Price of Custom Cookbooks
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2013 | Random House, Inc., announces the relaunch of TasteBook, the online food community and custom cookbook creation site. As the newest member of the publisher’s consumer websites, TasteBook was acquired by Random House late last year. Since then, TasteBook has undergone a major redesign and change in price structure. The new website features a personalized homepage, which allows members to instantly follow and connect with friends while sharing recipes. The homepage also includes a “Recipe of the Day” feature and “TasteBook Recommendations” that share even more recipe ideas with members. TasteBook also introduces a new price model for custom cookbooks, lowering the price of a 25-page recipe book by 30 percent to $24.95. Additional recipes can be purchased for $.20 each and added to the book at any time.
TasteBook has nearly half a million members that have shared over five million recipes and created thousands of custom cookbooks. Unique to TasteBook is an easy-to-use tool that allows members to browse from the site’s recipes or upload their own recipes and photos to create a personalized cookbook. This feature is popular among gift-givers, families preserving their culinary history, community fundraising groups, and the bridal shower set.
“TasteBook is all about connecting with friends while discovering and sharing new recipes,” says Lilly Kim, Associate Director of Digital Channel Development who has spearheaded TasteBook efforts at Random House. “Based on member feedback, we redesigned TasteBook with community and customization at the heart of the new site. We also lowered the price of TasteBooks to make these gorgeous books more accessible to budget conscious families. The enhanced social features, fresh content, and new pricing make TasteBook a fantastic community-based food destination.”
Future plans for TasteBook include additional site enhancements and a blog that will feature content from partners and notable cookbook authors. The community also plans to initiate a cookbook reviewer program for members and expand its cookbook store to add print titles to the current digital books that are available for sale.
