Simon & Schuster Introduces “Author Widget"
(Press Releaes) NEW YORK, February 17, 2010—As part of its ongoing mission to facilitate the distribution of author-related content to all corners of the World Wide Web, Simon & Schuster Digital is pleased to introduce a specially developed “Author Widget” that enables authors and consumers to easily display and promote an author’s entire catalog of books on their own website or social networking site. The widget is available to authors, webmasters, bloggers and fans and can be found at the company’s recently launched business to business site, www.simonandschuster.biz.
The Author Widget will display all the books published by Simon & Schuster for that author, with the most recent ones appearing first, and are automatically updated as new information becomes available. The Author Widget also offers a simple solution that enables authors to link to online retailers, and authors and fan sites that participate in affiliate programs can continue to earn referral fees from purchases resulting from the widget.
“The Author Widget furthers our strategy to provide innovative digital solutions to our authors and their fans, and to facilitate ecommerce wherever consumers may be online by enlisting our authors as partners in the effort to create that all important buzz,” said Ellie Hirschhorn, Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Simon & Schuster. “The widget provides a one-stop digital tool that gives authors, bloggers, webmasters, and social networkers an easy way to access visually attractive and complete information and digital assets relating to an author’s works.”
Visitors using the widget can see a brief description of the book, reviews, and community ratings and can link directly to purchase from online retailers. The widgets are accessible on every author page on SimonandSchuster.biz and SimonandSchuster.com. The widget is easy to embed on a website, simply by clicking on “copy this” and following several steps. Detailed information on how to grab the widget is available at http://simonandschuster.biz/author-resources/author-widgets.
