Springer launches new open access journal with Tsinghua University Press
New SpringerOpen journal Journal of Advanced Ceramics (JAC) is the first English-language publica-tion on advanced ceramics science research in China
Springer and Tsinghua University Press will jointly publish the new SpringerOpen journal Journal of Advanced Ceramics (JAC). This new international journal is the only English-language ceramics journal based in China, fully sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing at Tsinghua University. Articles are now available online on www.springerlink.com .
JAC is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the timely publication of new results and significant find-ings of theoretical and experimental studies related to the structure, processing, properties and ap-plications of advanced ceramics and ceramic-based composites. The journal publishes research pa-pers, rapid communications and review articles, which are submitted by scientists from the interna-tional research community. It is edited by a distinguished editorial board headed by Professor Longtu Li from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and is supported by an international advisory board made up of accomplished ceramics scientists.
“Materials science is a fast-developing and highly interdisciplinary field. Advanced ceramics have wide applications and therefore this is a hot research area worldwide. With the strong support from Tsing-hua University as well as both domestic and international researchers, we are confident that this journal will be another successful China based international journal. It will join Springer’s Chinese Library of Science, a collection of about 90 high-quality, English-language research journals from Chi-na,” said Lu Ye, Editorial Director China, at Springer’s Beijing Office.
Professor Longtu Li, Editor-in-Chief of JAC, said: “Advanced ceramics is one of the most important new inorganic, non-metallic materials. I am enthusiastic about the future of advanced ceramics and the role that JAC will play in communicating discoveries and advancements in this dynamic and multi-disciplinary field. We believe that the international distribution of the journal via SpringerLink will improve communication in the advanced ceramics science community and will help advance ceramics science research.”
The State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (SKL-NCFP) at Tsinghua University is devoted to the development of the science and technology of advanced ceramics and to the explora-tion of the frontiers in the area of materials science. The lab received 29 awards from different minis-tries of China, including two Second-Class Awards of National Natural Science and five Second-Class National Invention Awards. Over 1,500 research papers from this lab were published in refereed jour-nals. The lab possesses more than 150 patents.
