Study Finds Book Club Members Are Rapidly Adopting E-Books; BookMovement and Open Road Launch E-Book Club
(PRESS RELEASE) New York: BookMovement, a website dedicated to supporting and connecting book clubs, and Open Road Integrated Media, a digital publisher and multimedia content company, have partnered to launch an e-book club featuring titles from authors like Alice Walker, Natalie Goldberg, Pat Conroy and Josephine Hart.
Through BookMovement.com, readers will be able to join the club and learn about timeless stories recommended for group reading and discussion. Open Road will also give away over fifty e-books each month through the site, and then bring readers together with their authors for online chats and discussions. Readers will also get access to a wealth of additional materials, such as discussion questions, reading guides, extended excerpts, and more.
BookMovement and Open Road are launching the e-book club to meet the needs of book club members who are rapidly adopting e-books. An Open Road/BookMovement survey of BookMovement’s 32,000 book clubs and their e-book reading habits revealed that book clubs are ahead of the e-book curve:
* Over 48.5% of participating book club leaders (1,833 participants) read e-books and own e-book devices (versus 12% of Americans, as per Pew Research)* (full study attached)
Book Movement said: “We are very excited to be launching this e-book club and hosting it on our newly redesigned website. Open Road is the perfect partner to help us create new ways of connecting book clubs to each other and to authors and in the e-book realm.”
Rachel Chou, Chief Marketing Officer at Open Road, said: “BookMovement is the leading destination for book clubs across the country, which is the perfect way to connect authors with readers. As e-books transform the way book clubs read and interact with each other, we are very excited to partner with BookMovement on this e-book club.”
