And now, like other publishers, HUP is seeking new opportunities in this increasingly digital world. "We see digital formats as an important means of reaching readers and furthering scholarship," Sisler wrote.
In September 2014, HUP launched the digital version of the Loeb Classical Library, a collection of over 500 volumes of Greek and Latin texts with facing-page translations that the press has published since 1934.
Amazon is testing an ebook and audiobook subscription service called "Kindle Unlimited" that offers "unlimited access to over 600,000 titles and thousands of audiobooks on any device for just $9.99 a month." Most of the test pages were pulled down Wednesday after some users on the Kindle Boards noticed them, but they are still available through Google Cache and some are still live on Amazon's site.
Amazon's service, which has been rumored for a couple of months, would compete with existing ebook subscription services Scribd and Oyster.

De Gruyter, the international academic publishing house, announced today that it has signed an agreement with YBP Library Services (YBP), the academic division of Baker & Taylor, whereby nearly 10,000 titles from De Gruyter's eBook program, e-dition, will be made available for purchase through GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information), YBP's acquisition and collection management interface. De Gruyter publishes more than 850 new titles annually in medicine, the humanities, natural sciences and law, in addition to more than 600 journals and digital media publications.

The companies claim the new, sustainable process will revolutionize how books are printed and manufactured.
