The Kid Is Back in the Picture: It Books to Publish New Robert Evans Memoir, and Relaunch the Classic Original, in Multimedia Editions

It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced today its plans to publish, in the summer of 2013, a new memoir by the legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans, and to republish his unforgettable autobiography, The Kid Stays in the Picture. The books will be published both in print and in an innovative digital multimedia edition—the first of its kind—including rare and previously unreleased visual and audio material. The deal was negotiated by Calvert Morgan, publisher of It Books, and Helen Breitwieser of Cornerstone Literary Agency.

Nook Video opens new chapter for B&N e-reader

Last year when it launched its Nook Tablet Barnes & Noble strongly hinted that it was looking to add a video service to the device that would allow users to buy and rent movies and television shows.

Well, it took a little longer than expected, but today the company has announced that it's launching Nook Video this fall in the U.S. and the UK this "holiday season" with content from major studios, including HBO, Sony, Starz, and Warner Bros, and Disney.

New 'Godfather' Book Will Be Published After Paramount, Mario Puzo Estate Strike Deal

Paramount Pictures has made an offer to the Mario Puzo estate that couldn't be refused. Thanks to an agreement between the parties, a new Godfather-based book will be coming out. The deal doesn't end a nasty dispute between the parties, but each has seen the wisdom of allowing onto the marketplace a book titled The Family Corleone that is expected to detail Vito Corleone's rise to power in Depression-era New York.

In February, Paramount sued the Puzo estate, alleging that it had a copyright interest in Puzo's famed novel, The Godfather

Viacom Inc. rang in the New Year with the announcement that it officially completed its division into two publicly traded entities—CBS Corp. and “New” Viacom Inc.—plans for which the company had announced in June 2005. Simon & Schuster, the company’s publishing arm and an international publisher of books and multimedia products that publishes some 2,000 titles annually, is now a property of CBS Corp., along with CBS Television Network, UPN, Infinity Broadcasting, Viacom Outdoor, Viacom Television Stations Group, Paramount Television, King World, Showtime and Paramount Parks.
