The 20th year of the Gold Ink Awards—the industry’s most prestigious print competition—featured some of the storied awards’ most impressive and highest-quality submissions to date. A talented team of judges poured through more than 1,400 entries in this milestone year, awarding Gold, Silver, Bronze and Pewter honors in 46 categories spanning a wide variety of printed products. Printers and publishers submitted their finest pieces, and more than a dozen judges rolled up their sleeves to scrutinize and examine the entries’ each and every detail over four days in May at the Philadelphia headquarters of North American Publishing Co.—parent company of Book Business and Publishing

Book Business magazine has announced the 2007 class of inductees into the Publishing Executive Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed on leading publishing executives in book, magazine, catalog and advertising production. Michael Weinstein, vice president, editing, design and production and manufacturing, Oxford University Press, is this year’s inductee in book production. Book Business Announces a Major Study: the ‘Best Publishing Companies to Work For’

Publishing executives will soon have a new resource at their fingertips for finding the best places to work in the book publishing industry. Book Business magazine has announced that it is launching the first-ever major study to determine the “Best Publishing Companies to Work For.” The study, being conducted by independent research organization Accelara Publishing Research, will rate publishing companies annually based on their scores in six to 10 major categories. Gold Ink Winners, Hall of Famers Honored at Banquet in Chicago

Hundreds of industry executives turned out Oct. 16 to honor North America’s finest print production projects at the 19th Annual Gold Ink Awards Banquet in Chicago. Attendees also witnessed the induction of four new members into the Publishing Executive Hall of Fame, including David Pelkey, Merriam-Webster Inc.’s director of manufacturing and a 21-year veteran of the graphic arts industry.
