Any trends you’re seeing in current fiction? What upcoming projects are you most excited about?

Tony Perez: I think the best part about working for a press like Tin House is that we don’t have to think a whole lot about trends; our greatest successes seem to come when we publish what we love and trust that readers will feel similarly—which is good, because I have zero interest in working on mommy porn.

VIDA: Women in Literary Arts have released a report entitled “Vida Count 2012″ revealing that male writers still outnumbered female writers in a number of major literary publications last year. Follow this link to see a three-year comparison.

This report tracks the statistics of gender balance among writers published at literary magazines around the country. They also looked at authors reviewed, book reviewers, and interviews at certain publications.

On Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., a record 280-plus top national and international authors and participants will join bibliophiles, booksellers and literary organizations on 14 stages at Borough Hall, Columbus Park, St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights Public Library, Brooklyn Law School, the Brooklyn Historical Society and St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church for the seventh annual Brooklyn Book Festival.
