Don't like Paulo Coelho's book? Don't pay for it.

The bestselling author of "The Alchemist" put free e-copies of two of his books on his blog this week. He is asking readers to decide later whether the works were worth purchasing, and if so, to name their price. The Brazilian-born author, who posted "Manual of the Warrior of Light" in English and "Brida" in Portuguese, wrote: "If you like the text, please buy it-so we can tell the publishing industry that this idea does not harm the business."

At a standing room only session at the Frankfurt Book Fair, bestselling Brazilian author Paulo Coelho had a message for publishers: Embrace change. And, lower your e-book prices.

At the packed event, Coelho and fair director Jeurgen Boos talked about the future of the book business, with Coelho telling the audience that change could not be stopped. Best-selling author Paulo Coelho blogs that he has managed to talk publisher HarperCollins into offering ten of his eleven novels for 99 cents each. (The single exception is his best-known work, The Alchemist.) The promotion is valid for the USA and Canada only (though he is in talks with his Spanish and Portugese publishers to [...], Inc. today announced a new Spanish-language eBook store within the Kindle Store, “eBooks Kindle en Español” ( ), along with additional features specially implemented for U.S. Spanish-speaking customers like extensive help pages, and phone and email customer support in Spanish.

U.S. customers can now shop for Spanish-language books in the new store on, or set any Kindle device to access a customized shopping experience designed for books in Spanish. eBooks Kindle en Español offers customers the most Spanish-language bestsellers, as measured by Nielsen, including “El Alquimista” by Paulo Coelho, “Cien años de soledad” by Gabriel García Márquez and “Juegos del Hambre” by Suzanne Collins.
