Children’s progress in the classroom is being hindered by the use of iPads and Kindles, a charity has warned, as figures show pupils are now more likely to read on a device than from a traditional book.
The number of young people reading from a screen every day has overtaken those who read printed material for the first time. However, according to research done by the National Literacy Trust, it could be potentially detrimental to their reading ability.
The study found those who read only electronic books daily are significantly less likely to be strong readers
