New Books on Demand Service Enables Self-Published Authors to Sell Through Amazon.com
We connect our members with a worldwide audience of tens of millions of people on Amazon.com and through other sales channels like the author’s own Web site and the CreateSpace Shop. In the past, this has only really been possible through traditional distribution deals. Our on-demand services eliminate the upfront costs and risks associated with carrying inventory; we manufacture products as they are ordered so titles are never “out of stock” and artists can focus on what they do best––creating new content––and let CreateSpace handle everything else from production and manufacturing to customer service and distribution.
Extra: What other services does CreateSpace provide?
LoPiccolo-Giles: CreateSpace offers DVD on Demand, CD on Demand and Video Downloads via Amazon Unbox. The company introduced its first service, DVD on Demand, in 2002; launched CD on Demand in September 2006; and followed along with support for Video Downloads through Amazon Unbox in December 2006. In May 2007, we announced support for Audio books in standard and MP3-CD formats. Previously, we announced our intended support for HD DVD and Blu-Ray in the near future.
