Isobel Akenhead is to join Boldwood Books as publishing director, swapping Bookouture for the new role at the indie.

Lizzy Gray has been promoted to deputy publisher at Ebury, joining the executive team at Penguin Random House’s specialist non-fiction publisher. 

Hana Murrell is departing Blake Friedmann to join Hardman & Swainson as rights director.

In a newly published document, judge Florence Pan has said the US government presented a “compelling case” to block Penguin Random House’s acquisition of Simon & Schuster, predicting “substantial harm to competition”.

Ann Bissell and Carla Josephson have both been promoted to deputy publishing director at The Borough Press, as the HarperCollins imprint “looks forward to growth and an increased focus on non-fiction".

Simon & Schuster and Faber are paying staff a one-off sum to assist with the cost of living, with both also raising their starting salaries.
