“The Digital Future” to be Focus of Book Business Conference’s Grand Opening Session
Book Business magazine has announced the Grand Opening Session for the 2007 Book Business Conference and Expo, which will be held March 5-7 at New York’s Marriott Marquis, Times Square.
The conference, which attracts thousands of publishing executives and is now in its 11th year, will kick off with a Grand Opening Session titled “What the Digital Future Holds for Publishers.” The session will be led by Dr. Jeffrey Cole, of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication. Dr. Cole is director of the Center for the Digital Future, a research and policy institute focused on rapidly evolving communication technologies and mass media. The group is in the seventh year of its ongoing “Digital Future Report,” which studies Internet use among users and non-users in 25 countries.
Dr. Cole will extract a number of observations from this study and apply them to book publishing to shed some light on the effect the digital age will have on this industry. The session is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Marriott Marquis.
The Book Business Conference and Expo features more than 25 sessions targeted for nearly all book publishing executives, including: business management and development, marketing, design, production, manufacturing, distribution and workflow.
