“Just in time for the holiday season, we’ve enhanced the program by lowering prices to our Members,” said Steve Riggio, chief executive officer of Barnes & Noble.
Borders, the second largest bookseller, has a similar retail program. Unlike its chief rival Barnes and Noble, Borders’ discount program is free. It does not feature ongoing additional reductions on the price of books, but rather rewards through e-mail coupons and accrued discounts.
