Press Release: Bookmate Expands Deal with HarperCollins
20 February 2015: Bookmate, the subscription-based social reading service, has today announced the expansion of its deal with HarperCollins Publishers.
The agreement, which expands the deal struck in October 2014, will add a significant number of books from HarperCollins' UK catalogue to Bookmate's library of English-language titles, bringing the total number of English-language tittles up to 250,000.
Authors now available to Bookmate subscribers include Pulitzer Prize-winners Annie Proulx and Jeffrey Eugenides and million-selling novelist Sidney Sheldon. Other standout HarperCollins UK titles covered in the agreement include Arundhati Roy's Booker Prize winner The God of Small Things, Ray Bradbury's seminal dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 and Cecelia Ahern's debut smash PS, I Love You.
Bookmate co-founder and CEO Simon Dunlop comments: "We are very happy to deepen our relationship with HarperCollins and bring such strong titles and authors to Bookmate's readers. This further strengthens our English language catalogue ahead of several new markets launches later this year".
HarperCollins UK CEO, Charlie Redmayne, comments: "Bookmate provides a fresh approach to reaching new and existing readers. HarperCollins UK is delighted to be working with Bookmate to bring our authors to new audiences and to provide readers with an alternative platform by which to access our titles."
The deal comes after the successful launch of HarperCollins' US titles through Bookmate in October 2014 and Bookmate's international English-language launch.
Bookmate is an open platform connecting publishers and readers directly. This means that authors listed on Bookmate are able to discover who is reading their book and access analytics which can aid their own promotional and marketing efforts.
Bookmate operates on a subscription-based model, allowing users unrestricted access to a vast library of ebooks and a range of social features. Users do not need a separate e-reading device as they can use Bookmate on their smartphones or tablets.
