On Demand Books' Espresso Book Machine (EBM) got a shot in the arm with the addition of O'Reilly Media to its growing network. The agreement will make a portion of the tech and innovation publisher's paperback catalog available to EBM, which has been described as an ATM for books, its EspressNet system allowing for the printing of books on demand at points of sale.
“As the publishing landscape continues its rapid evolution, we feel it's important to ensure that O'Reilly content is available via every storefront,” says O'Reilly's publisher and GM, Joe Wikert. “We are excited to offer much of the O'Reilly list in this unique and innovative manner."
The deal works on two levels for Espresso Book Machine.
"It is fitting that one of the world's most innovative publishers is endorsing our new digital-to-print at retail sales channel,” says Dane Neller, CEO of On Demand Books. "O'Reilly's focus on cutting-edge technologies combines well with our expanding presence in trade bookstores and academic settings. We expect this connection to be a great success for the publisher, our installations, and most important, the readers."
The files will be made available through a connection between O'Reilly, On Demand Books and Ingram Content Group.
