Forbes.com Puts Canon On List of '10 Companies That Are Genuinely Green'
July 12, 2011— Forbes.com recently named Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading digital imaging company, one of the "10 Companies That Are Genuinely Green." The list recognizes companies that have put forth effective environmental management initiatives, published detailed reports of environmental performance, and pledged to further reduce emissions and pollution levels.
Forbes selected Canon as one of the companies to receive the honor based on its environmental initiatives such as Environmental Planning Center and Environment Promotion Center. These programs allow Canon to measure its environmental performance. Another notable factor is Canon's annual sustainability report, which the company publishes in both English and Japanese. Forbes.com applauded Canon's publication of detailed records of greenhouse gases and CO2 emissions, as well as the company's receipt of the Energy Star Award for Excellence in Energy Efficient Product Design from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
“At Canon, our business is driven by the goal of fostering a sustainable environment while delivering world-class digital imaging technologies,” said Bunji Yano, senior director and general manager, Corporate Communications, Canon U.S.A. “This recognition further validates our commitment to the environment and preserving the planet as a whole.”
