John Wiley Announces Global Publishing Deal with Meredith Corp.
John Wiley & Sons Inc. has announced a new licensing agreement with Meredith Corp., effective March 1, 2009. Under the agreement, Wiley will become the exclusive global book publisher for Meredith's Better Homes and Gardens brand, and also will publish books under other Meredith brands, such as Family Circle, American Patchwork and Quilting, and Diabetic Living.
According to Wiley, it anticipates publishing approximately 20 titles per year across the cooking, gardening, crafts, do-it-yourself, and home-decorating categories. The first Better Homes and Gardens books to be published by Wiley will be released in spring 2009. In addition to publishing new books, Wiley also will become the exclusive distributor of existing Meredith books in all channels worldwide.
"We're delighted to join forces with Meredith," says Stephen Kippur, executive vice president and president, professional/trade publishing at Wiley. "Better Homes and Gardens and their other strong brands are known and trusted by consumers. From enjoying cooking and crafts to saving money and creating value for your home and garden, these categories will provide Wiley with an exceptional opportunity to leverage our existing strengths in branded publishing."
