Mendelson to Head Up Candlewick's Sales and Digital Initiatives
Candlewick Press has announced the hiring of John Mendelson as senior vice president of sales and digital initiatives. Mendelson will join the Somerville, Mass.-based children's publisher May 18. He is currently director of trade sales at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where he has worked for more than a decade in a variety of sales positions.

Additionally, Candlewick has promoted Susan Batcheller to vice president of marketing services and sales operations, and Sharon Hancock to executive director, school and library marketing. Batcheller joined Candlewick in 2001 and most recently was named executive director of marketing services and sales operations in July 2008. Hancock joined Candlewick in April 2004 and has led the company's marketing strategy for school and library as director since December 2005.
