Today Tolino starts its first big international challenge thanks to a strategic all-comprehensive partnership with Messaggerie Italiane.

Messaggerie Italiane with an overall turnover of about US$620 million is the owner of Italy's largest book distributor; it is the largest Italian online bookseller (IBS.it) and the country's third-largest book publishing group. While Tolino has had an introduction earlier in Belgium, this new Italian initiative is the first at a strategic level, given the market size and above all the broad scope of the partnership itself.

NOOK Media LLC, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS), today announced that NOOK Press (www.nookpress.com), Barnes & Noble's easy to use self-publishing platform, is now available to authors and publishers in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.

El Paso author Benjamin Alire Sáenz won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction -- one of the most prestigious honors in literature -- for his collection of stories in "Everything Begins and Ends at the Kentucky Club."

He paused, took a breath and said he considered his writing a gift for which he thanked his mother, his friends and "everyone who has ever loved me, inspired me and believed in me."

Publishers wanting to convert their library of books to ebooks may find it problematic, after a test run by the Flemish Innovation Center for Graphic Communication (VIGC) found tools for converting PDFs to EPUB files scored an average of 30% – with the lowest-performing tool scoring just 10%.
