Book Business is collaborating with Cenveo Publisher Services to take the pulse of publishers' digital strategies with a new survey titled Making Digital Pay. The project aims to gauge what returns publishers expect from print and digital formats. All respondents will get access to the results of the survey.
According to Marianne Calilhanna, director of marketing for Cenveo, the industry is just beginning to understand what publishing strategies will work in today's environment. "The business drivers for digital products are crystal clear: customer needs, revenue, survival. But where things get murky is whether publishers are getting a return on their technology and workflow investments. You really need to look at this over time as well and in the context of a larger "delivery" conversation."
Cenveo will also be publishing a white paper on the findings and collaborating with Book Business on a webinar.
The survey seeks to answer the following questions: Have publishers reached the expected return on digital products? Will readers pay for hybrid publication models? Are audiences looking for more than print replicas with a few interwoven pieces of rich media? And ultimately, to what degree will digital strategies deliver profits in 2014?
