Chronicle Books Names New Children's Publishing Director
Josalyn Moran will take over as children’s publishing director at San Francisco-based Chronicle Books effective June 10. In this position, she will oversee and spearhead the growth of the company’s entire children’s publishing program, encompassing both print books and other formats. Moran also will attend BookExpo America later this month on behalf of Chronicle.
Moran most recently held the position of vice president, children's books for Barnes & Noble Inc. Previously, she served as vice president, associate publisher at North-South Books, vice president, director of special sales, at Golden Books, and editorial director, school book clubs, Scholastic Inc.
“With her years of experience in children’s publishing, at retail (both national and independent), in-house, at the bookclubs and also in the classroom, Josalyn brings a wealth of knowledge from so many different perspectives to the Chronicle Books list,” says Christine Carswell, publisher. “Our industry is fortunate to have Josalyn, who has dedicated her working life to children’s reading. And we here at Chronicle, our authors and illustrators are especially lucky to have her join us. She does so at a time of unprecedented critical acclaim and success for our children’s program—and I very much look forward to watching our publishing flourish under her leadership.”
“I have long been an admirer of the Chronicle list and am delighted to be joining their innovative team. I look forward to continuing the important work of bringing books, children and families together, “ says Moran.
