On March 3, 2011, zlibro Inc. was formed in San Jose, California and launched its service – 1DollarScan.com. The company has since been featured in publications such as Forbes, TechCrunch and The Economist for its unique book scanning service that originated in Japan. Since launching, 1DollarScan has scanned a large number of books for a variety of diverse consumers and businesses as the transition from paper books to digital media continues to take place at a fast pace. 1DollarScan plans to also work with libraries, online bookstores, and other businesses, and seeks to help create innovative audio book solutions for visually impaired people in the near future.
